Does Direct-to-Consumer Orthodontic Treatment Meet the Same Standard of Care as In-person Treatment?

Some providers of direct-to-consumer ("DTC") orthodontic treatment contend that new regulations for teledentistry arenot needed because their direct-to-consumer clear aligner treatment maintains the same standards of care as in-person orthodontic treatment.

Recently, testimony by a former "treating doctor" for one of the largest direct-to-consumer orthodontic companies was made publicly available in a lawsuit against that company.
